[Rapid Learning] Just Released: CLEP Precalculus and CLEP Calculus

Dear student,

Rapid Learning has just released two more CLEP courses - CLEP Precalculus and CLEP Calculus, in addition to the already-released CLEP College Algebra and College Mathematics.

These courses are to help you to pass the exams and gain college credits without taking the classroom courses. CLEP (College Level Examination Programs by CollegeBoard) is widely accepted by 2900 colleges and universities in US.

Our CLEP courses are designed to mirror the CollegeBoard topical requirements and teach you the content chapter by chapter, developed and narrated a team of college math professors. It is the easier way, by far, to quickly prepare yourself for the CLEP, than traditional textbooks.

Check out our CLEP curriculum and take a test drive at:
CLEP Precalculus: http://www.rapidlearningcenter.com/clep/clep-precalculus.html
CLEP Calculus: http://www.rapidlearningcenter.com/clep/clep-calculus.html

PS: With four CLEP math courses released, we are actively working on CLEP Chemistry and CLEP Biology, to be released within a month or two. Don't forget to ask your school counselor about CLEP. It could save your time and money in college.

[Rapid Learning] New Release: CLEP College Algebra and College Mathematics

Dear student,

Do you know a term "Clep out"?

According to Urban Dictionary ...Clep out - The option to take a test on pre-class knowledge of any subject, instead of attending the full session.

Do you want to accelerate your degree? Would you like to skip the beginner courses?

You can do that with CLEP.

Simply, CLEP is a way to test out college courses and get college credit without taking the classes.

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) by CollegeBoard awards college credit at 2900 US colleges and universities. There are 33 CLEP subjects available. The scope of each test is well defined and comprehensive, outlined in CollegeBoard's CLEP Official Study Guide. Most colleges have their own CLEP policy so consult with the admission, school website or your academic counselor first.

Now to the test-prep solution for CLEP ...

Since CLEP is a comprehensive test, you need to study those well-defined topics in-depth (like you never learn before), and you need to do so rapidly (in days or weeks not months).

The answer is ... Rapid Learning!

Rapid Learning offers rich-media CLEP courses in science and math. We have just released the first two CLEP courses - CLEP College Algebra and College Mathematics, with four more courses coming within the next two months.

Check them out at http://www.rapidlearningcenter.com/clep

Stay tuned for more CLEP courses.

[Rapid Learning] New Release: Toxicology Visually in 24 Hours

Dear student,

We have just released another new course - Toxicology Visually in 24 Hours, on the heels of the recent release of the Pharmacology rich-media course.

These two courses (Pharmacology and Toxicology) are closely related. Often the toxicology is to deal with "good drugs gone bad". Just like what Paracelsus once said "All substances are poison. The right dose differentiates a poison from a remedy."

This toxicology course will cover the adverse effects of chemicals on human organs one by one, at molecular and cellular levels, expanding to broader topics such as food toxicology, forensic toxicology, environmental toxicology and others.

This course is highly recommended for anyone in the medical fields and related professions, taken together with pharmacology.

Check it out at: http://www.rapidlearningcenter.com/biology/toxicology/toxicology.html

As your spring learning is kicking into a higher gear, go rich-media and go for RAPID LEARNING!

While we now have a good coverage on those foundation life science courses, you can expect more upper level and medical school courses coming out later, as the demand for rapid learning growing by the days.

[Physics Tips] Physics principles you must know

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about the six commonly used physics principles.

The science of physics describes how the universe works. Although its study can be very complicated, it can be summarized in a few fundamental principles.

Principle #1: Force - This principle is often summed up by the contributions of Newton. His laws of motion and gravitation are a great explanation of the importance of force, mass, acceleration and gravity.

Principle #2: Equilibrium -Many times force balance out and have no net effect. This is called equilibrium. It can be applied to static or dynamic situations. This could be a skydiver falling at terminal velocity, or a mobile that is perfectly balanced.

Principle #3: Motion -Many introductory physics classes emphasize mechanics and motion very heavily. Often, it is at the exclusion of other equally interesting areas of physics. However, the study of motion does apply to and describe a great deal of things in our everyday life. We can describe the velocity and acceleration of an object, or predict the time of some particular trip or movement.

Principle #4: Conservation -In physics, many quantities are conserved. Mass, energy, momentum, and charge to name a few. For each of these there are situations where the application of conservation can be used to solve problems and predict results. The famous result E=mc2 is a good example of conservation of mass and energy combined.

Principle #5: Quantization-This principle is used mostly in quantum and atomic physics. It describes how certain electrons, energy levels, or other quantities must be a certain quantized values. An electron could have an energy of 1, 2, 3, etc. However, it would never have an energy of 1 ¾, this wouldn't be possible. It's analogous to a person on a set of steps. They are either on one step or the next, not in between.

Principle #6: Interference -While mostly applied to waves, the principle of interference is still very important. Interference explain all diffraction effects. This topic is also closely related to the wave/particle duality of light. Interference can also apply to waves that simply add or subtract when combined.

Study these principles and full understand them, which will help you to the physics mastery.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Seize the Day!

[Physics Tips] How to master physics rapidly

Hi student,

Welcome to another day of tips and tricks in how to master physics the EASY way.

The topic is how to master physics rapidly. With our break-through learning system, it is now possible to do so. Here is how:

Students now have a great option that was never before available for help in physics class. For each physics topic, a student has access to a core tutorial, a problem set, and a cheat sheet.

The core tutorial is the main component. It is a digital tutorial that teaches the main concepts for the core physics topics. Although it can supplement any traditional lecture and textbook physics course, it can also teach the physics topics independently. Click by click a student proceeds through a course teaching the basics of physics.

In each tutorial, a concept map shows links between concepts in the current topic, and others. These add visual learning by arranging topics according to their relationships.

All the relevant definitions are explained. Conceptual examples are presented as needed. Students can learn at their own pace. If difficulty arises, a student can pause to think over a point, or go back and review something previous.

Example problems are illustrated step by step. At difficult points, additional hints are given to alleviate any confusion. Each formula is explained so that every variable is defined. Complicated problems are done one line at a time the same way a professor would do so at the chalkboard.

Many animations are provided to help students visualize physics concepts. This is especially important for any changing situation. For example, students can see object accelerate, charged flow through a circuit, or light rays bend going through a lens. These animations show things that could never be visualized with a chalkboard or whiteboard during a traditional lecture.

At the end of each tutorial, a brief synopsis of the topic is included. This summarized the key points of the tutorial into a super short conclusion.

The problem set contains multiple choice questions and problems similar to those found in any other physics course. With each question is a set of possible answers. If the incorrect answer is chosen, a brief explanation or hint is given that helps the student to the correct answer. The incorrect answers represent the common mistakes that students make. Thus students avoid, or at least learn from, the common pitfalls. The full explanation for the correct answer is also given. This includes all the step by step math work for problems.

The cheat sheet isn't for cheating. It condenses all the important concepts from a particular physics topic into a single page for easy reference. It included key terms, formulas, units, diagrams, example problems, hints, etc.

These tutorials, problem drill sets, and cheat sheets enhance learning in a way no lecture ever could. They present students with an opportunity that was previously unavailable.

That should do it for this week! Let's master physics the EASY way!

The tip of today: Master physics the rapid learning way!

[Physics Tips] Watch the signs

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is the signs. The signs matter a greal deal in physics. Just think vectors!

A positive or a negative sign can make all the difference in a problem. Just as you made graphs or plot on axes in math class, you can use signs to establish direction in physics. In math, + on the y axis is arbitrarily assigned as up. - on the y axis is down. The same idea applies in physics.

The acceleration due to gravity is -9.8 m/s². Without saying anything else, this mean the acceleration is pointing downwards. This assumes we have setup the convention that up is positive. The negative sign doesn't mean its moving slower than zero, it simply refers to a direction.

If a ball is moving at +25 m/s, that means its traveling in whatever has been established as the positive direction. A velocity of -25 m/s means its traveling in the negative direction. They would both have the same speedometer reading, just different directions.

Tip of the Day: With any physics quantity, think of the signs and units too.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Rapid Learning] New Release: AP Physics C Visually in 24 Hours

Dear student,

If you or your kids are AP students, it's time to prepare for the upcoming AP exams in May, and we have a solution just for you. Read on ...

We have just released another rich-media course - AP Physics C, after last month's release of AP Physics B.

[Physics Tips] Graphing in physics

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about graphs.

Graphs are extensively used in physics. They may be graphs of experimental data, or just a convenient way to show something. Students must be able to interpret the graphs and grasp the key points that is being illustrated.

Some important things students should be able to say about any graph:
* What do the axes represent?
* What trend is being illustrated in the graph?
* Can any extensions be made of the graph?
* Are the slope or areas under the graph significant?
* Can you verbally describe what the graph is visually depicting?

Remember to ask yourself these questions next time you deal with any physics graphs.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Physics Tips] Vector vs Scaler

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about vectors.

Vectors are extremely important in physics. A vector is any quantity that has magnitude (size) and direction. An example would be 9.8m/s/s down, 20 km/hr North, 8 Tesla out of the page. They are typically draw as arrows to indicate this directional nature.

Contrast this idea with a scalar, which is a quantity with only magnitude. An example would be 70 degrees Fahrenheit, 50 kg, 3 hours.

Vectors often represent things like forces, velocities, and fields. If there is more than one vector acting on some object, they must all be incorporated. This means the vectors must be added together. The saying that describes how vectors are added is "tip to tail" or "head to tail". This means you must place the arrow head part of one vector at the beginning of the next. The sum, or combination of vectors is called the resultant.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Physics Tips] Confusion: Real and virtual images

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about real and virtual images.

When dealing with lenses and mirrors, there is a seemingly endless variety of outcomes. One difficulty lies in discerning real and virtual images.

Real images are formed when actual rays of light converge to form an image. This happens when you see a movie projected onto a screen. A virtual image is formed by your eye when it extrapolates and determines where the rays of light seem to originate from.

An example would be using a magnifying glass to enlarge small print. No rays of light are actually at that position, that's how you can remember its called a virtual image. Think of a virtual reality game. You see and hear things, but they aren't really there.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Physics Tips] Centripetal and centrifugal force

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is the confusion between Centripetal and Centrifugal Force.

Imagine you are driving in a car, and make a hard right hand turn. You can probably visualize your body moving to the left and bumping into the driver side door. There obviously must be some force pushing you outward, a centrifugal force. Surprisingly, there is no such thing happening. You can probably see why this is one of the more confusing concepts in physics.

The truth lies in the description of centripetal force and inertia. Centripetal force is a center seeking force for any object moving in a circle. Inertia is the property of matter that resists changes in its state of motion.

In our car example, imagine you are initially moving in a straight line. Then you make the sharp right hand turn. The reason your car is able to make this turn is due to centripetal force. This force pushes inwards on the car so that it can make the turn in the first place. If this force didn't exist, the car would continue in a straight line.

This is what happens to your body. Although you are sitting in the car, hopefully with a seat belt on, you aren't exactly part of the car. Your body wants to continue going in a straight line at first. However, the car is making its turn to the right, so the left side of the car actually bumps into you. You aren't push to the outside. The car is pushed to the inside and runs into you. This is why people mistakenly think there is an outward pushing centrifugal force when the only force acting is actually an inward centripetal force.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Physics Tips] Confusion - Mass and Weight

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about Mass vs Weight.

Although these two terms seem very similar, and they may even be used interchangeably, they are not the same things.

Mass is the amount of matter in an object. It's usually measured in kilograms. In the US, we aren't as familiar with that unit since we've stubbornly avoided the metric system. Usually, the amount of matter in an object doesn't change unless that object is physically altered somehow (cut into pieces).

Weight is a measure of the gravitational pull on an object. This is a force, thus its measured in Newtons. Again, this may seem like the same thing as mass. Here on the surface of the earth it is true that is something has more mass, it has more weight.

There are certain situations where the difference becomes obvious. Here is an example.

If an astronaut takes a very far journey into space, imagine that they are very far away from the earth or any other body. Here their mass is the same as it was on earth. However, the weight is now much less since they are far away from massive bodies that would gravitationally attract them. Thus, mass and weight aren't exactly the same thing.

That is the wrap for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

[Biology Tips] How to master biology rapidly

Hi student,

Welcome to Biology Tips Daily!

The topic is how to master biology rapidly. With our break-through learning system, it is now possible to do so. Here is how:

Study biology one hour at a time, one chapter at a time with 24 hours on all 24 chapters in the course - visually and auditorily via rich-media animation/illustration and expert narration.

For each biology chapter, it comes with a core tutorial, a problem drill, and a cheat sheet.

The core tutorial is the main component. It is a video tutorial that teaches the main concepts for the core biology topics. Although it can supplement any traditional lecture and textbook biology course, it can also teach the biology topics independently. Just watch and learn, a student proceeds through a course teaching the core concepts in biology.

Many animations are provided to help students visualize biology concepts and understand the connections. The concept map is provided to illustrate the inter-relationship of each concept.

At the end of each tutorial, a brief synopsis of the topic is included. This summarized the key points of the tutorial into a super short conclusion.

The problem set contains multiple choice questions and problems similar to those found in any other biology course.

It condenses all the important concepts from a particular biology topic into a single page for easy reference. It included key terms, and essential facts for the chapter.

These tutorials, problem drill sets, and cheat sheets enhance learning in a way no lecture ever could. The rich-media videos with intereactive drill present a visual and rapid way to master the biology content that is visual by nature.

There are many bio/med rapid learning courses available:

[Physics Tips] Physics is an experimental science

student,

Welcome to another issue of Physics Tips Daily - the free eZine to provide tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in physics.

Today's topic is about the experimental nature of physics.

At times, it may seem like physics has nothing to do with the real world. It may seem like its all about abstract, unrealistic, unimportant book problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. Physics describes the workings of everything around you. This extends from the thermodynamic workings of your car engine, to the fluid dynamics of the blood moving through your body.

Often, your physics labs will attempt to verify, quantify, or predict examples from your lecture. You will need to keep up on your class work to help your lab work. Additionally, lab work may require careful or even tedious skill to obtain the necessary results.

As an example, you will often use the acceleration due to gravity, -9.8 m/s² in your class work. It's quite possible that you may measure this value in a laboratory activity. With modern equipment, there are a variety of ways to directly or indirectly make such a measurement.

That should do it for today.

Students now have a great option that was never before available for help in chemistry class. For each chemistry chapter, a student has access to a core tutorial, a problem set, and a cheat sheet.

The core tutorial is the main component. It is a video tutorial that teaches the main concepts for the core chemistry topics. Although it can supplement any traditional lecture and textbook chemistry course, it can also teach the chemistry topics independently. Just watch and learn, a student proceeds through a course teaching the core concepts in chemistry.

Many animations are provided to help students visualize chemistry concepts and understand the connections. The concept map is provided to illustrate the inter-relationship of each concept.

Problem solving is the key skill in chemistry, example after example with step by step illustration, each tutorial connects the concepts learned and applies to problem solving.

At the end of each tutorial, a brief synopsis of the topic is included. This summarized the key points of the tutorial into a super short conclusion.

The problem set contains multiple choice questions and problems similar to those found in any other chemistry course.

It condenses all the important concepts from a particular chemistry topic into a single page for easy reference. It included key terms, and essential facts for the chapter.

These tutorials, problem drill sets, and cheat sheets enhance learning in a way no lecture ever could. The rich-media videos with intereactive drill present a visual and rapid way to master the chemistry content that is visual by nature.
