[Biology Tips] Is studying biology just memorizing?

Hi student,

Welcome to another new day for Biology Tips Daily, offering tips and tricks to help you ease into the biology mastery.

Amony all the myths about studying biology, this is THE ONE - Biology is all about memorization.

We hope you don't believe this. Effective study of biology involves memorization and thinking. In fact, you learned that memorization, in many instances, is secondary to thinking and comes automatically with thinking.

Sure there are long lists of terms to be memorized (arrrrgh!), but you still have to understand the concepts or mechanisms or processes the terms represent or what the term has to do with concepts or mechanisms or processes.

Remember, your brain evolved as an organ specialized to learn and it can do quite a bit more than just memorize. We are pretty sure you've noticed this by now. Just ask yourself if you can ace a science course using just your memory, no matter how good it is. The answer must be that you can go a lot further if you are conversant in a subject and not limited to regurgitation of facts.

The Biology Survival Guide introduces the "A-I-R" scientific memorization method and many tricks to recall key facts in biology. Get the Kit and stay ahead of the game.

Get with the program...it takes thinking and memorizing to learn biology.

Until then, stay tuned for more biology tips.
