[Math Tips] The Daily Checklist for Math

student,

Welcome to another issue of Math Tips Daily - the free eZine to offer tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in math.

Today's topic is about the math checklist.

A diligent following of the steps detailed below will ensure a stress-free and comfortable passage through your math course.
1. Attend every class. Take complete notes. Be sure to write down all the tips and comments mentioned by the instructor.

2. At home, first review previous material, then read over the class notes. Make a list of definitions, formulas and results that you will need to remember. Flash cards are very useful for this.

3. Write out in its entirety any definition or result that you need to learn. This process help cement it in your mind.

4. Work out the examples done in class to make sure you understand them.

5. If at any point you have any questions or doubts, start a list of issues/doubts. Keep separate lists for each chapter/topic.

6. Read the material in the textbook. It is important to do this, and not just read the class notes.

7. Work out examples and problems from the textbook to reinforce the material you have learned.

8. Write out complete solutions to the homework problems. Make sure that you keep these along with your notes. Not only will you have practiced doing the problem, you will also have a handy example to review just before an exam. This is help greatly just before exams and the exam prep will seem easy.

9. Again, add to the list of doubts as needed.
If you get completely stuck while you are working and cannot figure the matter out after trying many times, move on! Do not get frustrated. Just add the item to your question list. Sometimes distance and time provide clarity. You might spot the little mistake that had you stuck and all will be well.

Do not let your list of doubts grow long. This will guarantee that you will fall behind. Address the questions and doubts on our list as soon as possible. Ask your teacher outside of class or make an office-hours visit. If not, you will find yourself behind in the class. Playing catch up is never fun.

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Seize the Day!
