Welcome to our Physics Tips Daily - a newsletter on insider's tips and tricks in how to study physics smartly. Each day, you will receive an article and/or a visual tutorial on how to survive and excel in physics.
Today's topic is about units, very important part of any physical quantity.
Sometimes it will seem like your study of physics involves an endless array of units or labels. Always be aware of what units should be used, and carry them through your problems.
Some may be very obvious. You will generally use the metric unit of a meter,m, to measure length. You will also generally measure time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Others will be quite obscure. Eventually you will learn that a Tesla, T, is a unit of magnetic field strength. A Farad, F, is a unit of electric capacitance. These units are often named after important scientists.
Additionally, you may need to convert one unit into another. Learn to master the technique of dimensional analysis (i.e. unit conversion). This is an important tool that is often needed in physics. Don't get hung up on details such as this. Become fluent in the conversion of units so that it isn't a problem in the solutions of your main physics problems.
Today's Tip: Always remember the units!
That should do it for today! Let's master physics the EASY way! "See" you tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Seize the Day!
