[Math Tips] Top-12 Math Tips of Smart Students

student,

Welcome to another issue of Math Tips Daily - the free eZine to offer tips and tricks for students to survive and excel in math.

Today's topic is the smart tips for smart math students.

Tip 1: Set aside a specific study time and amount of time for each day.

Tip 2: Be proactive in your learning process. Address any and all problems as they arise.

Tip 3: Make lists of things that you do and do not know in the course. These lists are dynamic. They grow and shrink and may grow again, at various points in time during the course.

Tip 4: Address and resolve the items on your do-not-know list and do not put it off.

Tip 5: Attend class every day and take notes. It is hard to write fast enough to get complete notes in class. Be sure to amend, clean up and add to your notes before the day is over.

Tip 6: Don't forget that instructors create test questions based on material and examples covered in class as well as those on the text.

Tip 7: e an active member in the classroom. Get ahead in the book; try to work some of the problems before they are covered in class.

Tip 8: Ask questions. Remember there are no stupid questions. It is stupid not to ask question that you do have. Invariably there will be other students in your classroom wanting to know the answers to the exact questions that you have.

Tip 9: Make use of the instructor's office hours and ask questions during this time. You can make the best of this one on one time.

Tip 10: Most math courses are related to a previous course. The material in the new course will build on the material from the earlier course. Similarly each class builds upon the earlier class, tying concepts together and revealing new relationships.

Tip 11: Math is learned by doing problems. Do the homework. The problems help you learn the formulas and techniques you do need to know, as well as improve your problem-solving prowess and speed.

Tip 12: An extremely important point to remember: IT IS USELESS TO CRAM MATH AT VERY END. While this does not help with most subjects, it will definitely not help with math. Falling behind is not an option!

YOU HAVE TO PLAN ON STUDYING AND REVIEWING YOUR MATH MATERIAL REGULARLY. It has been said that 90% of the work is done by your backside. That is if you sit down long enough, the work will get done!

That should do it for today.

Keep it up with your study. "See" you tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Seize the Day!
